Default Selecting and Joining Variables - Full ETL Process Explained

    Hi there,

First of all, feel free to dive into this next image (click to zoom) so the level of awareness of this thread is at the maximum (:

The goal of this process is to populate a fact table (let's call it FactAnswer) with the following columns : SurveyID, QuestionID, AnswerID, Answer.

    • SurveyID, QuestionID, AnswerID are variables set in the system.

    • Answer will be the output of a table input like - " Select ${SGQA} from table_answers"

What I want, and need, is to make a "FetchAnswers" transformation that selects all $SGQA from table_answers and joins them with the SurveyID, QuestionID, AnswerID previously set.

So the output , for example, of Select $SGQA from table_answers , $SGQA being 26667X55X851, would be "YES", the fact table should have:

    • SurveyID: 26667

    • QuestionID: 851

    • AnswerID: 1

    • Answer: "YES"

The granularity of the fact table is one answers, so each line must be represented by 1 SurveyID, 1 QuestionID, 1 AnswerID and 1 answer.

    Any thoughts on this ?

    Thank you all in advance,

It's still a work in process (works with 1 {$SGQA}), but:

    • 1 - Stored the "Copy to Results" output in a aux table.
2 - Did a table input with selection {$SGQA} (the code).
      3 - Normalized this input
4 - Joined (cartesian) this normalized input with aux table

Now I have this problem @
