    Default SMB protocol: some doubts

    Hi,
I need to modify a working transformation.
Now my transf receives 2 parameters:
    1. local folder path
    2. name of file
    and it analyzes the file.
Now I am going to change it, so that I will only pass:
    1. shared folder path
and it will analyze all file in that folder (remote folder).
I have some doubts on how to pass the URL, what is the format?
Could you please link me to some documentation?

    Thank you
    nicola

Nobody used an exel input step reading from a windows shared folder? (see attachment)

I have this error (after trying a lot of syntaxes):

Unable to get VFS File object for filename 'smb:file:///192.168.1.252/pubblica/excel' : Invalid absolute URI "smb:file:///192.168.1.252/pubblica/excel"

    I use pdi-4.1.0.

    Thank you for any suggestions,
    Nic

    Hi Nicola,

Apache VFS lists the url syntax: http://commons.apache.org/vfs/filesystems.html

    For SMB it says:
    smb://[ username [: password ]@] hostname [: port ][ absolute-path ]

So the path would be something like the following
    smb://192.168.1.252/pubblica/excel

Haven't tried it, but it should be close

    Cheers

    Slawo

    Hi Slawo,
that's one of the syntax I tried, but the error is still present:

    2011/05/20 09:17:53 - FileInputList - ERROR (version 4.1.0-stable, build 14410 from 2010-11-16 16.43.28 by buildguy) : org.apache.commons.vfs.FileSystemException: Could not determine the type of file "smb://192.168.1.252/pubblica/excel".

    Bye,
    Nic
