Default Difference between Report Designer and User Console New Report

    Hi,
what is the difference between the creation of a new report using the tool "Report Designer" and using "New Report" included in the Pentaho User Console?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

"New Report" from the User-console will access the available "Metadata Models" which are created by the "metadata-editor" tool.
Reports, which have been created by the Report-designer are available in the solution browser (the part on the left side of the screen)
Using the metadata-report approach will enable the user to define which columns/groups he will see. However, the layout of the data is more generic as it is when using the
designed reports. The designed reports usually look a bit more fancy. However, in these reports the report-consumers are not able to define which data should be displayed (except for using parameters)

So both approaches have the advantages and disadvantages.

    Cheers,

    Tom
