    Default debug step by step

Hi, I'm wondering if is it possible to debug the flow of the job, step by step.

After executed the job, I have on the third tab (I see it in Italian and I'm unable to translate ) the various step of the job. If I go through step by step with the arrow key, I'm expect to see the execution of the job in rallenty. Do I explain it?

    TIA

    Hi renato,
I'm afraid you have been too generic.
I suppose you are talking here about transformations and not jobs. Also, I think you are referring to step metrics tab in the execution result pane (at the bottom of the window).

Did you give a look at the log tab? Please consider that you can set logging level when you start the transformation, in order to get more and more info about the rows flowing between steps.

    Hi Andrea,
yes, I'm talking about transformation, not job (it's my 'old' mynd...)

Do in log pane I could watch the value of any variable in a exact moment?
What am I looking for are the value of some variable after pass some steps.
    Do I'm more clear?

    Thank you

    Renato

    Renato,
I'm not sure you are using the word "variable" in a way consistent with kettle environment. If so, please be informed that variables cannot be set in the same transformation where you want to use.

Probably you are talking about fields value in your stream. Changing the log level gives you additional information on what pdi does to/with your data. At the lowest level, you can even see each row field values in the log tab of execution result window.

Furthermore, right-clicking on a step during execution allows you to sniff rows (italian: sniff test durante esecuzione) and look through input/output data.

    ps: yes, i'm Italian
