Question Dynamic images within Excel file

    Hi.
I need to create Excel files with embedded images.
I know that with the latest MS Excel Writer Step I can use a template to format my file.
If my image would be the same for each Excel file, then I would simply use a template with an embedded image.

The issue is that for each Excel file I have a different image.
Is it possible to achieve this?

    Thanks.

    Hey Mick,

last time I was looking at the API for images it gave me headaches. It was easy enough to get the images into the sheet, but to sanely format it (size and position) was not so easy. So I did not put that into the plugin.

Thomas has obviously done some nice work with PRD in this regard

Feel free to file a JIRA improvement, and maybe me and Thomas can work something out.

For the time being I'd propose looking at using a Kettle transformation as data source in PRD, providing the images you need in binary fields. Then use the image-field in PRD to display them.

    Cheers

    Hi Slawo.
    Thanks for your reply.
    I'll file a JIRA.
I raised this question because our client wants an Excel file with some data and an image.
I wanted to avoid having to create a "proper" Report Design ;-)

I'll have a look into it.
    Thanks.
    Mick
