Question Configuring connection to Oracle through JNDI

    Hi.

Has anyone here configured Kettle database connections to Oracle using JNDI?

I couldn't find what are the parameters to define the tablespaces (data and index) names in the {KETTLE_HOME}/simple-jndi/jdbc.properties file.

    Regards,
    Uilian.

    Hi Uilian

I don't think you actually need to define those. My working configuration for a jndi connection named 'mydb' is as follows:

    mydb/type=javax.sql.DataSource
    mydb/driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    mydb/url=jdbcracle:thin:@<xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>:1521:<SID>
    mydb/user=<user>
    mydb/password=<password>

This is using ojdbc14.jar as the driver. Obviously you need to replace the IP address, SID and credentials with what is relevant for your connection. Also, ensure you are on the default port 1521 or change that accordingly.

I just installed Pentaho 4.3 and I could no longer connect to my oracle Databases.
I copied the following 2 files from "C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\jdbc\lib\" to "pentaho\data-integration\libext\JDBC" and it worked after restarting spoon (don't forget to restart).
    1) simplefan.jar - not sure if this is even needed
    2) ojdbc6.jar - driver for jdk 1.6, which is what I'm running
