Question MySQL InnoDB "lock wait timeout exceeded" still an issue ?

    Hi,

we faced the infamous "lock wait timeout exceeded" exception in a recently designed transformation.
We use MySQL 5.5.10 together with 4.2.
The exception occurs, but the timing and step/table differs each run although innodb_lock_wait_timeout was set to 300, in the previous run we monitored no lock wait over 200 secs.
Does anyone face this behaviour recently and has some alternative suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

It depends on the cause of-course. If it's the log tables, there is a solution for it, yes.

Sadly it's not the log tables, no. It happens during the transport of business-data.
What perplexes me is that, if we just made two identical runs with no additional load on either system nor database-server, we're facing some statements that still lock and break the timeout of 300sec, even though a previous run tells us that no transaction/statement (which were executed before the timeout) took longer than 200 secs. The locked statements in the second run where executed earlier in the script than the locked statements of the first run.

Are you updating the same table somewhere in the same transformation? That could cause locks and deadlocks too.
Make sure to make the transformation db transactional in that case.
