Default Using BI Platform to Create an Application

    Hi,

I am considering using the Pentaho Community BI Platform as the foundation for an application that is essentially a web front end to a MySQL database. One requirement that I have is to provide a web-based, wizard-like set of screens to insert data into the MySQL database. Can this be done with Community BI?

    Thanks,
    Paul

It can be done, whether you'd want to i'm not sure. you could hack something together with xactions, it would not be pretty.
It may be better to use some other tool - something that can generate your wizard / forms from the mysql database. There's lots of these things around, i guess best would be to pick whatever technology suits you best. I couldnt offhand find a java based sql form generator but there must be something like that around - then it could be embedded within the bi platform if thats what you wanted. In fact it would make a pretty neat plugin.

This looks pretty cool - obviously you need the server side code to support it
