    Question Error with

    Hi

I just downloaded the Pentaho Report Designer and tried to build my first report. In order to make the connection with my Database (MS SQL) I used same parameters as in "Pentaho Data Integration". B
For PDI it's just working fine and with PRD i get following error (same computer):

Error connecting to database [CtrlTmp] : org.pentaho.di.core.exception.KettleDatabaseException:
Error occured while trying to connect to the database
    Exception while loading class
    net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver

you have to make sure you have the right drivers in the /lib/jdbc folder of report designer

for me, it is this path:

    C:\Program Files\pentaho\design-tools\report-designer\lib\jdbc

    Thanks for the answer.

But does that mean I have to download the JDBC driver from Microsoft and just copy it in my folder?

That's strange that PDI comes with the JDBC driver and the PRD not...

    Best regards

    Hi

I get it work, using JTDS (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jtds...d?source=files)
But with Microsoft Driver it does not (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ng=en&id=11774), so far it s enough. I do not need more.

    Thanks

so you are all set? I did not understand your response.

This same thing happened to me with Schema Workbench. I merely copied the driver from the PDI folder into the appropriate folder in Schema Workbench, and it worked right away. So - you should not need to download a new driver, but just use the ones supplied (which were, sadly, not placed everywhere by the installer)
