Exclamation ERROR timeout using "Get a file with FTPS" PDI version 4.3.0

    Hi,

I hope someone can help me understand and solve my problem with "Get a file with FTPS", I'm using this step but I get an timeout error, according to the image Pantallazo.jpg.

in additional images shows that the connection is established, but eventually the files are not transferred.

Check "use Active FTP connection" and run the job and see the output

    Hi yvkumar,

yes I did, but connection mode at server is "PassivePorts 10000-10200/TCP" (Port 21 FTP/SSL), therefore if I do check this option then I getting Error about "Illegal Port".

Kettle has 'not perfect' implementation for ftp almost all ftp related steps.

First - try to check that connection can be succeed with independent client - for example Filezilla or any other. Which implementation for authentication your server is using, explicit or implicit? This will be different options. Check here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTPS#Me...oking_security

Note - FTPS connection is ftp over https - is not perfect way to secure your connection (check what google search result may say about ftp over https). If possible - use SFTP which is ftp over ssl.

If independent client is succeed connection - do not relay on test connection button on UI dialog. Try to test-run job and get simple file.

Switch your Spoon language to English - so we can be able to clearly identify what stack trace said.
Run job with detailed logging - post it here if possible.

Specify your target ftp server. OS + implementation.

    One more note about FTPS.
Remote server uses self-signed or side-verified certificate?

UPD: check connection encoding is correct. For linux boxes this shuold be UTF-8. Improper connection encoding can lead to unparsable server responses and as a result connection refuse.

    Not quite.
FTPS is FTP with SSL. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTPS
SFTP is a set of commands that behave similar to FTP but implemented within SSH.

yes that is correct sorry. .
just ftps is just like https.

The question is - how is ftps certs is validated. Is they are validated the same way like it browser do against MIMT attacks, and how often root certs is updated for java cert store, as ftps java implementation can use only java ones if I am not mistaken.

We should close this thread, since the post originates almost 2 years ago, and the original poster reported their problem solved.
